Baron Stourton

Baron Stourton (Stourton), från Stourton i grevskapet Wiltshire  , är en titel i Peerage of England . Den skapades den 13 maj 1448 för John Stourton (1400-1462). Han var hög sheriff av Wiltshire (1426, 1433 och 1437), Somerset och Dorset (1428) och Gloucestershire (1439), satt i parlamentet för Wiltshire (1421, 1425 och 1432) och Dorset (1423), tjänstgjorde som hushållskansler ( 1445– 1453) och löjtnant av Calais (1450-1451).

År 1878 skapades Alfred Joseph Stourton, 20:e baron Stourton (1829–1893), Baron Mowbray, som var i ett tillstånd av väntan. Ungefär två veckor senare beviljades han även titeln Baron Segrave, även han under behandling. Därefter förblev de tre baronierna förenade. Det formella namnet är Baron Mowbray, Segrave och Stourton .

Fram till 1717 var familjens säte för baronerna Stourton Stourhead Manor i Wiltshire .
