Lista över hallar och walks of fame

En hall, vägg eller walk of fame är en lista över karaktärer, prestationer eller djur som valts ut av en viss grupp människor i syfte att erkänna deras  berömmelse  i ett visst område. I vissa fall är dessa halls of fame faktiskt salar eller museer där utmärkelser firas med skulpturer, minnestavlor och utställningar av saker och allmän information. Ibland placeras pristagarens plaketter på väggen (”wall of fame” dyker upp) eller trycks in på trottoaren ("walk of fame" eller "avenue of fame"). I andra fall är hall of fame bildlig och innehåller helt enkelt en hederslista med namn eller prestationer. Listor sammanställs av en organisation eller gemenskap och är nationella, statliga, regionala eller privata.

Den engelska termen blev populär efter bildandet av Hall of Fame of Great Americans 1900  genom  ansträngningar  från Bronx Community College av  staden  New York . Han inspirerades av  Ruhmeshalle ( Rysk Hall of Fame ) i  München . En ännu tidigare Valhalla Hall of Fame  grundades 1807 i  tyska Bayern och byggdes mellan 1830 och 1842. Betydelsen av ordet "berömdhet" har förändrats över tiden: först betydde det "berömdhet", och nu betyder det mer " stjärna" [1] .
