Viscount Southwell , från Mattress Castle i grevskapet Limerick , är en titel i Peerage of Ireland .
Historik
Titeln Viscount Southwell skapades den 18 juli 1776 för Thomas Southwell, 3:e baron Southwell (1721–1780). Familjen Southwell härstammade från Thomas Southwell (d. 1680 ). År 1662 skapades ett friherrskap för honom från Mattress Castle i grevskapet Limerick ( Irlands friherrskap ). Han efterträddes av sin son, Thomas Southwell, 2nd Baronet (1665–1720), som tidigare representerade grevskapet Limerick i det irländska underhuset (1695–1713, 1715–1717). År 1717 skapades han Baron Southwell från Mattress Castle i grevskapet Limerick i Peerage of Ireland . Hans barnbarn, Thomas George Southwell, 3:e baron Southwell (1721–1780), skapades som viscount Southwell 1776 . Han satt i Irish House of Commons för Enniscorthy (1747-1761) och County Limerick (1761-1766). Hans barnbarnsbarn, Thomas Arthur Joseph Southwell, 4:e Viscount Southwell (1836–1878), var lordlöjtnant i County Leitrim (1872–1878).
Från och med 2020 är titelinnehavaren hans barnbarnsbarnsbarn, Richard Andrew Pierce Southwell, 8:e Viscount Southwell (född 1956), som efterträdde sin far 2019 .
